Descriptive writing focus
Our prompt. |
This term we are focusing on descriptive writing. Today the students have been using this image to promote good use of adjectives. They also had to use the 5 senses within the writing.
Some examples:
Stock still, frozen in place as the breeze slapped at my skin like bullets. My eyes drift towards the glassy reflection of the mountains in the ice cold blue of the lake. Crack, crack, crack goes the ice as I carefully begin to navigate the uneven surface of the shores edge. My breath envelopes my head like fog on an Autumn day.
The foot numbing dampness of the ice residue was slowly creeping into my boots to freeze me from the bottom up. I breathe in through my glowing nose and then exhale to observe my foggy breath disappear as the cold snapping air attacked it. My eyes scanned the landscape around until they stopped at the whitened mountains. There they stood tall and proud, their reflections painted into the glassy water below. While carpeted in ice, still looking alive.
Looking into the glassy ocean the beautiful Fiords catch my eye. The mountains with their fresh morning snow just fallen, it's hard to look away. Stunning. The icy cold breeze comes like a wall right through my jacket. A gritty taste runs through my mouth from the gravel that is beneath me. And the sound of children's laughter rings through my ear.
