Homework Week 1-3

Revisiting our static image discussions and work. Remember earlier this year when we looked at this song and watched the young girl sing this?

Your task for the next 3 weeks is to reflect on this and the words of Katy’s song  again and create a poster  reflecting the words of this song. Focus on the positives from this message and make your poster powerful. Think about the poem, I know why the caged bird sings, the positives of letting go and accepting the good in yourself and others.

Your criteria is to think about:

Impact of your words you choose to use to celebrate excellence
The message you are trying to get across
Presentation (colour, style etc)
Explanation to attach to this explain why and what you chose to do
Time management

ALSO PRACTICE YOUR SPEECHES...THESE WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE CLASS IN WEEK 2 THIS TERM.

Firework – Katy Perry.

"Firework"

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep six feet under?
Scream but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause, baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

You don't have to feel like a wasted space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause, baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through-ough-ough

'Cause, baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,  Maya Angelou

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

The boys HamiltON projects. Ready for display at the Principals Conference tomorrow!

Six of our boys have been very busy this term creating these masterpieces for a competition. They had to use #8 wire, egg cartons, Gallagher pegs, a fence standard and various other things to create an iconic Hamilton/Waikato sculpture.

We have a Hot Air Balloon, A bridge and a fountain! Well done boys! Thanks to Mr Nixon for his support during this science/technology project.
